We've invited some of our friends to join us on Whidbey Island this winter for an Unplugged series. We've challenged some of the loudest, most animated bands we've shared the stage with to join us indoors at Bailey's Corner Store as the days grow shorter and the darkness intensifies. We'll fire up the wood burning stove and share stripped down versions of our songs and the stories that inspired them. Each month a local visual artist will set the stage and we'll host an artists reception before the show. Get there early to grab a seat and a burger!

We first saw Kitty Junk when they opened for us at (the now defunct) Tim's Tavern. We sat in awe of the loudest, most hard-hitting two-piece we'd ever heard. The glam-grunge duo project of Angie Dane and Ryan Lee, the band formed in response to many sexist encounters within the music industry. The band aims to make the rock world a gender-inclusive and POC-friendly space. The duo works to empower their female listeners through their heavy, hard-hitting tracks. The female duo is only adding more ammunition to their collection of undeniably catchy tracks. For more info, visit their website at

Since being "discovered" in a Fred Meyer deli case late last year, Now and Later Panther Jackson has been making a serious splash in the "scene pool". Prolific and always unexpected, Jackson's Jumanji-inspired magnum opus "Puma" made waves coming on the tail-end of his Americana-themed "Crystal Foliage" tour.

Whether you're a new fan, or if you've been spinning "Calloused Hands" since his first residency at Austin, Tx's Rorschach Room, you'll find a cleansing leather embrace in the special set Now and Later Panther Jackson has prepared specifically for our Winter Series. Tighten your belts, wash your hands, and enjoy.

Buried Blonde was formed in Shoreline, WA in 2020 by solo artist and Whidbey resident, Lauren Flynn. Lauren came up to Whidbey Island, WA from Topanga Canyon to finish her second solo studio album in 2018, after which she committed to staying on quiet Whidbey to write. She began writing songs with the goal of forming a band with lead guitarist Nick Kurtz, who she met in Seattle prior to lockdown. Once restrictions eased up they added a rhythm section. They started out performing on live streams in support of Seattle venues during lockdown. They recorded their debut ep, "What Now?" at Robert Lang's Shoreline studio in 2021 and released it this summer, receiving air play in three states and garnering lots of positive feedback. They have recently returned to the studio to record their full length ep, due next year. The first single, "Perfect Machine" will be released this December. They curated a summer series outdoors at Bailey's Corner with local Whidbey artists and Seattle bands. They are the hosts of this winter unplugged series and will play a set of acoustic versions of their songs to kick off each show.

Nick Kurtz, Lead Guitar/Songwriter/Back-up Vocals: Hailing from Knoxville, TN, Nick Kurtz has been irrationally obsessed with music ever since he could walk. He started playing guitar as a teenager, quickly garnering a reputation as one of Knoxville's taller guitarists. Nick spent years on the original and cover circuits, making records and sharing stages with numerous national acts. In 2015 he found himself in Seattle and eventually found his way into Buried Blonde. He didn't even know it was happening. Just boom - all of the sudden he's in a band and can't get out. A music major, he's been known to give guitar lessons if provoked, and can be seen at shows channeling light and magic through his magnificently calloused fingertips.

Aniela Marie Perry, Bass: Aniela recently relocated to the PNW after living and working in Los Angeles for over 20 years. Jeff Nelson, Drums - Jeff splits his time between Whidbey based jam band, Dr. Chef & Buried Blonde. A drummer for over two decades, his influences include hip hop, drum and bass and djent. He is currently studying Drum Performance at Musicians Institute.

Lauren Flynn, Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar/Songwriter/Producer: Lauren began her music career as a vocalist and quickly picked up rhythm guitar in order to write and perform solo. She has released 2 solo studio EP's ('Bad Decisions in the Daylight' & self-produced 'Theory of Mind'), one self produced/engineered EP ('Outside One Girl') and two singles including a cover of Talking Heads 'This Must Be The Place' with 5-time Grammy winning engineer, Alfonso Rodenas (Los Tigres Del Norte). Her song 'Beyond This Moon' was featured in the 2019 web series "Coffee House Chronicles". She wrote, arranged & co-produced the debut Buried Blonde ep, 'What Now'. Lauren is a former professional wrestler and studied stand up comedy in LA under Greg Dean while building her live performance skills on stages throughout southern California. She embarked on a path of sobriety in 2017, having fallen into substance abuse after losing three homes to natural disasters within 6 years.
